The Magnificent Seven is the latest venture in the Wild West genre from Hollywood following The Hateful Eight and The Ridiculous Six. But in essence, it is really just a remake of an older film by the same name. But that doesn't mean this movie deserves to be looked over.
The thing you have to get out of the way before seeing this movie is the plot. There is not too much here for people that have seen a couple of western movies before. There is nothing original about this movie and could be considered a combination of wild west troupes. But the movie is more than the sum of its parts. All the little individual pieces that make up this movie, when combined, still do not do this movie justice. Its an incredibly solid film that manages to put a smile on your face each chance it gets. It grabs your attention with each gun shot and leaves you in awe with each magic trick, becoming more exciting as the movie progresses.
The cast puts on a really good show and fills their roles with as much firepower as the weapons they use. The dynamic characters and group chemistry is so good, no one really feels out of place. It all acts as a cohesive way for the story to be told and makes for a really good time. Another thing that this movie does well are the deaths, this extends to almost everyone who dies in the movie, they all hit hard or have high impact. You can feel the force when someone gets shot and it really adds to the overall experience for the movie.
There is not much to say about the movie other than the little surprises that you definitely don't want spoiled before you see it. It is worth seeing in the theater, no questions asked.
