A Story from A New Perspective

The Accountant seemed to be just another action movie, but under the veil of today's preferred genre was a diamond in the rough.  It offered a new story that has not been overused and really hits home to the audience.

This movie is an A in pretty much every respect, from its casting, acting, and story. This movie might seem small but what it lacks in scope, it makes up in writing. A general complaint about movies in today's climate is that they tout their big budgets with the promise of CGI, while television has become a playground for screenwriters. This movie defies that norm and really allows for the story to pull you in. It really highlights important things being done today and embraces the modern day.

This story shines a light on a different kind of hero, the kind that is really popular today, the anti hero. The idea of a hero that is not entirely all good and isn't afraid to cross a few lines. But the catch comes from the characters backstory which is beautifully showcased throughout the movie. It shows a kid who didn't have an easy childhood, but doesn't stop there. He is an autistic kid who, through non-conventional parenting, has been able to lead a normal life. Ben Afflack does an amazing job making it believable and you never question it.

His ability to convey the situation and keep you engaged is astounding and riveting. You can see the pain and contortions in his face that alert you to the subtle acting that Affleck does which really pulls you in. The script also elevates the character to be relatable and empathetic, but still places an important alert to his differences. The movie highlights how important it is to find new perspectives and bring them to a mass audience.

In the showing I went to, people were laughing at the things Christian Wolff (played by Ben Affleck) were doing. Things like making sure his food does not touch each other, and having only one set of utensils in his drawers. It was an important movie to make, showing a fictional character that became successful despite what others might think.

When all is said and done, this movie really is fantastic. It really gives you s movie that continually peaks your interest throughout its run. You will not be dissapointed by the movie and more importantly you should go see it when possible, preferably on a big screen.
