Swamp Thing a Good Guy?
I love Batman the Animated Series created by Paul Dini and Bruce Timm. That show holds a special place in my heart like it does with so many others. Timm and Dini were the driving force behind the animated show which has influenced the characters ever since. One-half of that team, the Bruce Timm portion, was the main driving force behind this animated movie and it really shows. His iconic art style from the tv show is back but seems to have creative control here.

Bruce Timm since the animated show ended has revealed his true colors about what he would do with the characters. To put it lightly, let's just say there are a lot of commissions you can find online from Timm, with iconic characters in less clothing than you are used to seeing them in. This point is translated unscathed into the Batman and Harley Quinn movie. It doesn't have the same fun feeling as the animated show, just the perversion of Timm's ideas of what he wanted to do with the characters all along.

The importance this movie places on sex appeal and perversion overshadows everything else the movie tries to do, not that there was much else. The story acts as a backdrop for unnecessary action scenes and it just seems like lazy writing. There is literally a scene in the movie where a regular guy on the street is being chased by Harley Quinn because he didn't take her to senior prom. Not only is this scene stupid, but the guy that she is chasing is able to jump across roof tops and fall great distances without getting hurt. The bit ends with Harley saying the reason he didn't take her to prom was because he went with a girl that had bigger boobs. Batman covers her mouth before the last part is said, but what was the point of this stupid scene. Nightwing follows up that he deserved being chased as a joke.

Not only does the whole movie stink of lazy writing, tropes that just aren't funny, and just a waste of mostly good voice acting, but it really is hard to watch. It really plays out like a really bad fan fiction. This twisted piece of garbage makes me what to pull out my hair most of the runtime. This is not a Batman story in any way shape or form. If you could take one thing away from this movie, do not let Bruce Timm write anything ever again. From the Harley Quinn fart jokes, the implied Nightwing and Harley Quinn sex scene, Harley Quinn singing at a bar for the sexual jokes, the super girls bar, to the unnecessary fight scenes, the disrespectful portrayal of the main heroes and other heroes. This movie has some of the laziest writing I have ever seen. The movie literally ends with Harley Quinn stopping Poison Ivy by making a "cute sad face" and Harley Quinn suggesting that they just burn the villain because he is made of leaves which prompts Batman and Nightwing to kiss her on the cheek.

Overall I wish this movie didn't exist. I wish no one watches it and it is forgotten. I have said before that recent DC animated movies are not very good, but this is the worst of them all. There is literally nothing good about this movie.

Probably on par with the Emoji Movie
